The San Diego ACC chapter will offer a brown bag program titled Immigration Compliance and Enforcement in 2010 and Beyond on Thursday, November 11.
It will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at AMN Healthcare, 12400 High Bluff Drive in San Diego.
Immigration enforcement has dramatically increased, and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano recently affirmed the employer- focused strategy and said that "employers need to be held accountable for maintaining a legal workforce." It is no longer sufficient for employers simply to react to the government's actions; they must be proactive in developing a robust immigration compliance program or face the consequences.
Speakers Gary Perl and Karine Wenger, both of Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy, LLP, will lead a discussion that includes the following topics: I-9 audits; unannounced and scheduled visits by ICE: fraud detection and National Security Office; the expansion of the E-Verify program; increased scrutiny of visa petitions and related files; and legislative proposals impacting immigration enforcement.
