In honor of Women's History Month, NYCLA's Estates, Trusts and Surrogate's Court Practice Section hosted the Ruth Lewinson Memorial Lecture. Hon. Renee R. Roth (center), who served as Surrogate of New York County for 25 years, presented a lecture titled "Reflections on the Surrogate's Court." Also pictured are NYCLA President Ann B. Lesk (at left) and Sylvia Di Pietro, section co-chair and event chair. Judge Roth expressed her thanks to NYCLA for giving her the first opportunity in her early years to broaden her scope and knowledge of trust and estate matters through section meetings and CLEs. In her remarks, she recommended that there be a form of compulsory or mandatory settlement negotiations in all cases to resolve issues before lawsuits are instituted in trust and estate matters.
