On Wednesday, May 11, the San Francisco ACC chapter will explain how to put in place a cohesive, efficient and streamlined program to manage and extract the value from brand investments.
The seminar, Global Trademark Portfolio Management: How to Build It, How to Budget It, will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Crown Plaza Cabana Palo Alto.
The speakers, all current and former lawyers from Baker & McKenzie, will address the following issues and challenges: the different approaches to global brand protection and management; why to register and how, and how to best prioritize for selecting which marks to register and for which classes and products and in which countries; the countries that present particular problems, such as counterfeits and trademark piracy; what you should do if you discover your marks are being used abroad without authorization; how you should use multi-jurisdictional regimes, such as the Madrid Protocol, OAPI and the Paris Convention priority and similar options to streamline the registration process; and how to construct a budget for your international filing program.
