The progress for women being appointed to serve on corporate boards in the United States continues to be embarrassingly slow, with just a few women being added each year. To discuss the issue, the Executive Women of New Jersey (EWNJ), a premier organization serving women in executive roles in business, academia, and government, tackled this topic head on.
On Wednesday, April 28, they held a program in their board appointments breakfast series in Roseland at the law firm of Lowenstein Sandler at 8 a.m. The discussion, titled Resumes & Networking for a Seat on the Board, was offered by a prestigious panel that included Jane K. Greenwald, partner, Amrop Battalia Winston; Beth Stewart, director, General Growth Properties, Carmax, Avatar; and Erica Peitler, CEO, Erica Peitler & Assoc. and Vistage Chair. Joan Verplanck, president of the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce, facilitated the panel.
EWNJ is a charitable organization and New Jersey's premier organization for senior-level women. It is a forum for executive women to share business experience and solutions to challenges their male colleagues do not encounter. Its purpose is to promote the advancement of women and to assist corporations seeking qualified candidates for board director positions.
