DRI will hold its annual Employment and Labor Law Seminar Wednesday to Friday, May 18 to 20, at the Westin Kierland in Scottsdale, Arizona.
It will run from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday and from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
On Wednesday afternoon, two tracks run concurrently - managing common issues in the employment relationship and how to succeed in an employment trial. A networking reception will follow at 6:00 p.m. On Thursday, topics include a labor and employment law update, wage and hour strategies for the advanced practitioner, electronic discovery, and deception detection techniques to use in the workplace or in litigation. A panel discussion in the afternoon - How to Work With, and Not Against, Your Client's EPLI Carrier, will explain how employment law practitioners must partner with insurance professionals to manage and defend claims.A networking reception and dine-arounds will follow in the evening.
On Friday, panelists Paul Lancaster Adams, Microsoft Corp.; Lucretia D. Guia, U.S. Airways Inc.; and Tabitha Jenkins, Macy's Inc., will discuss troubleshooting advanced labor and employment issues. News from the National Labor Relations Board with board member Mark Pearce and a management-side labor lawyer, J. Al Latham, Jr., Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker LLP, will update attendees on developments in labor relations and union organizing. Finally, Randel K. Johnson, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, will discuss the latest legislative initiatives affecting employers, covering pending and recently enacted legislation related to labor, immigration and employee benefits.
