Throughout the month of February, the DC Bar will be presenting a series on defending securities investigations. All three parts of the series will take place at the DC Bar Conference Center, 1250 H Street, NW, Washington, D.C., beginning at 6 p.m. and concluding at 8:15 p.m.
Part I, titled The Investigation Begins, will feature a general introduction to the federal securities laws, and the various federal and state agencies and SROs that investigate securities violations, as well as other preliminary issues of the process.
Part II of the series will take place on Wednesday, February 18, and will be titled Internal Investigations. This second installment of the series will focus in-depth on issues involved in conducting internal investigations to uncover the facts.
Part III, Documents and Testimony, will be held on Wednesday, February 25, and focuses on responding to document subpoenas, production of e-mails, privilege review, 5th Amendment right against self-incrimination, representing multiple witnesses in testimony, and preparing for and defending testimony and certifications.
