On Thursday, March 31, through Saturday, April 2, the American Law Institute-American Bar Association will explore Advanced Employment Law and Litigation at the Washington Plaza Hotel, Ten Thomas Circle, NW in Washington, DC.
Day one begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 5:30 p.m., day two begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 5:15 p.m., and day three begins at 8:00 a.m., and the conference adjourns at 12:15 p.m.
Employment law is evolving at light speed; this conference offers participants the opportunity to stay abreast of all the important changes. Issues that will be addressed are retaliation, whistleblower protection, arbitrations, and updates on ADA, FLSA, ERIS, FMLA and USERRA. There will also be a review of the latest Supreme Court rulings and state law developments with analysis from two U.S. magistrate judges.
Concurrent sessions for corporate counsel and litigators allow registrants to customize the course based on particular interests and issues. The corporate counsel sessions focus on counseling clients with respect to post-employment restrictions on competition, poaching of employees and protection of trade secrets, problems in structuring reductions in force, and effective releases of discrimination complaints in the face of the unstable economy.
The speakers include Hon. Paul W. Grimm, chief U.S. magistrate judge, Baltimore; Jacqueline A. Berrien, chair, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission; Frank Cummings, adjunct professor of law, New York University Law School; and Peter M. Panken, Epstein Becker & Green, P.C.
