The Dallas Bar Association has scheduled a two-day seminar for Wednesday and Thursday, September 11 and 12, titled Review of Oil and Gas Law.
The seminar site is the Belo Mansion at 2101 Ross Avenue in Dallas.
Day one opening remarks begin at 8:55 a.m. and the CLE program will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.Topics to be discussed include a Texas and Oklahoma case update, recent legal issues for oil and gas operations, recent surface damage statutes, energy lending expectations for today and tomorrow, and an update on wind energy.
The luncheon discussion panel about leasing and foreclosures includes Gregory Binns and Jolisa Dobbs, both of Thompson & Knight LLP; Cody Miller of Dale Resources, L.L.C.; and Brandt Vawter, Chesapeake Energy Corporation.
The day-two session begins at 8:45 a.m. and adjourns at 4 p.m. and will cover the impacts of trusts and estates on title, carbon-sequestration rights, ethical and malpractice issues, attorney client privilege, and the basics of groundwater rights and regulation of groundwater pollution from oil and gas exploration and production. Lunchtime presenter Donald R. Looper of Looper Reed& McGraw P.C. will discuss biofuels and why the industry is sputtering.
