The Colorado Bar Association has scheduled its 9th AnnualBusiness Law Institute for Thursday to Saturday, September 18 to 20, at the Vail Cascade Hotel, 1300 Westahaven Drive in Vail.
On Thursday, day one, the seminar begins with registration from noon to 1:10 p.m., followed by an address on national business law issues by the Hon. Myron T. Steele, Chief Justice of the Delaware Supreme Court.Other day-one topics include Counseling a Director in Public and Private Companies, Drafting and Negotiation Skills, and Entity Selection - Taxation and Other Considerations.The program adjourns at 5 p.m.
On day two, after a continental breakfast, the program begins at 8:30 a.m. and adjourns at 5:10 p.m. followed by a reception.
Day two topics include the raising of capital, contracting and drafting, strategic alliances and joint ventures, a business case law update, mergers and acquisitions - material adverse effect clauses - and a luncheon presentation titled A Run Up to the 2008 General Election - Challenges to the American Political System, to be presented by the Hon. Mike Coffman, Colorado Secretary of State.
On Saturday, the last day of the seminar, sessions begin at 8:30 a.m. and adjourn at 12:05 p.m.Topics will include a secretary of state update, including changes to beneficial ownership rules, and new ethical problems in attorney-client privilege issues.
