A delegation from Beijing, China visited ACC's headquarters in Washington, D.C. Joined by James Merklinger, ACC's deputy general counsel and vice president of Legal Resources, the delegation and its leadership, division chief of the state-owned Asset Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) Yi Xuedong, discussed topics related to the roles and responsibilities of general counsel, risk management, and law department structure in the U.S.
The delegation included senior management from SASAC and leading state-owned Chinese enterprises, including China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group, China Aerospace Science & Industry Corp., China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd., China Telecom Corp. Ltd., Baosteel Group Corp., and Chenzhou Hualu Digital Technology Co., Ltd.
SASAC is a special commission of the People's Republic of China. Directly under the state council, it is responsible for managing China's state-owned enterprises, including appointing top executives and approving any mergers or sales of stock or assets, as well as drafting laws related to state-owned enterprises.
