Chicago Seminar Offers Updates In Employment Law

On Thursday and Friday, July 22 and 23, The National Employment Law Institute will examine developments in Employment Discrimination Law.

The conference will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel, 120 East Delaware Place in Chicago.

It will run from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. day one and from 8:00 a.m.to 1:15 p.m. day two.

A distinguished faculty will examine the most significant developments in EEO and their impact on employment practices. Thursday's highlighted session will be a discussion of the new compensation analysis after Ledbetter, which will focus on the impact of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which rejected the U.S. Supreme Court's Ledbetter decision to dramatically expand the "continuing violation" theory and increase the period in which employees may go back in time to challenge pay discrimination. The speakers will focus on the recent and conflicting case law decisions the courts are now handing down and teach participants what should be done to minimize liability for compensation and benefits decisions and other practices the Act now covers.

On Friday the topics under consideration include ADA compliance, the FMLA re-focused and the top ten overlap issues concerning the ADA, FMLA and other leave laws.

Among the faculty are Corrie Fischel Conway, Morgan Lewis Bockius LLP; Jeffrey D. Wohl, Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP; David K. Fram, National Employment Law Institute; and Steven W. Suflas, Ballard Spahr LLP.
