The University of Texas School of Law has scheduled the Carbon and Climate Change conference on Wednesday and Thursday, February 9 and 10.
It will be held at the AT&T Conference Center Hotel at UT, 1900 University Avenue in Austin, and it will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday and from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The conference will cover energy futures and industry economics, EPA and state regulatory developments, GHGs, Shale Gas, EOR, CCS and the Texas Edge.It opens with a networking reception on Tuesday evening at 5:00 p.m. including speakers, registrants, and participants of The Future of Texas CCS - 2011 and Beyond. Conference highlights include a panel discussion on Wednesday morning, Wiring Around Carbon, which considers the critical issues and pluses and minuses in considering supplying renewable energy long distances from renewable energy-rich regions of the U.S. to those that have limited renewable energy resource options, and it includes panelists Kenneth W. Anderson Jr. (invited), commissioner, Public Utility Commission of Texas and James D. Martson, Environmental Defense Fund. Coal Without Carbon: A World View, the luncheon presentation, will be offered by John Thompson, director, Coal Transition Project Clean Air Task Force. In the afternoon, a discussion about methane reporting and emissions sources and shale gas as a source of methane will be moderated by Melita Elmore, the Texas Carbon Capture and Storage Association.
On Thursday, CCS and Carbon Regulation and Management: Legislative Issues will be discussed, along with Carbon Repositories and a Sunset Review of the Texas Energy Agencies, with Rep. Rafael M. Anchia, Texas House of Representatives.
