Bar Association Of San Francisco Foundation Schedules Gala Event

On Thursday, October 21, The Bar Association of San Francisco Foundation will hold its popular Annual Gala. This year, more than 800 people are expected to attend an event that typically raises more than $250,000 (net). It will be held at the Bankers Hall in The Bently Reserve, 301 Battery Street, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Based on feedback from previous years, the bar has adopted a reception-style format to give attendees time for networking and socializing. Food stations and bars encourage mingling, and the silent auction will include such items as lunches and dinners with Bay Area general counsel, exclusive getaways, wines and the like.

Guests include more than 700 attorneys, judges, elected officials and corporate counsel from such Bay Area companies as AT&T, Apple, Bank of the West, Del Monte, Genentech, Google, Oracle, and Wells Fargo. The money raised will support the Volunteer Legal Services Program and diversity pipeline programs, including minority law student scholarships. Last year, VLSP served 7,500 low-income and under-served San Franciscans in such areas as eviction defense, restraining orders and consumer debt. The foundation has given more than a million dollars in minority law student scholarships in the past decade, and they assist dozens of Balboa and Mission High School students, a traditionally under-served and diverse population of students, helping them into college each year.
