August Brown Bag Luncheon: Visas For Entrepreneurs

The Bar Association of San Francisco has scheduled a brown bag luncheon roundtable discussion, Visas for Entrepreneurs, on Tuesday, August 24.

It will be held at the BASF Conference Center, 301 Battery Street in San Francisco, and will run from noon to 1:00 p.m.

Experts agree that startup business is booming, even in the down economy, and more than half the startups in Silicon Valley were begun by foreign-born entrepreneurs. This informal roundtable discussion, designed for newer lawyers, experienced immigration lawyers expanding their practice to business work, and corporate counsel, will cover visa options. The presenters will cover the general requirements for each and the pros and cons and field questions for the following categories: business visitors, and "business" versus "working"; H-1Bs for founders, CEOs, and the transition to H-1B for F-1 students; intracompany transferees for multinational corporations; O-1 visas for persons of extraordinary ability; and E-1/E-2 treaty trader/investor visas.

Scheduled speakers are Phyllis Jewell, Jewell & Associates, PC; Kate Kunzman, Pearl Law Group; and Jennifer Smythe, the Law Office of Gali Schaham Gordon.
