He retired from Mayo Clinic at the end of 2018.
Prior to his appointment as CEO in 2009, Dr. Noseworthy served as chair of Mayo Clinic's Department of Neurology, medical director of the Department of Development, and vice chair of the Mayo Clinic Rochester Executive Board. Dr. Noseworthy specialized in multiple sclerosis and spent more than two decades designing and conducting controlled clinical trials.
Dr. Noseworthy sits on the board of directors of UnitedHealth Group and Merck & Co., Inc. He previously served as Health Governor with the World Economic Forum. He has received numerous awards and honors including “50 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders” from Modern Healthcare Magazine and the Research!America, Geoffrey Beene Builders of Science award. In 2018, for the third year in a row, Mayo Clinic was #1 in U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best Hospital ranking.
