Join the American Law Institute and the American Bar Association for a program on the practical strategies for real estate acquisition, disposition and ownership.
The three-day seminar is scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, July 29-31, at the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel, 163 East Walton Place in Chicago. On Thursday and Friday it runs from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until noon.
Professionals will learn that even though transactions are down, attorneys still need guidance to address problems caused by the economic downturn. The program will offer participants an in-depth pragmatic study of commercial real estate transactions.
Highlights of the program include updates on current law and real estate economics; a judges' primer on bankruptcy; assessment of the risks of being a "bottom feeder"; and discussion of tax planning issues in commercial transactions to help avoid taxes.
The speakers include Philip D. Weller, DLA Piper US, LLP; Mark A. Senn, Senn Visciano Rosenstein, P.C.; Peter Aitelli, Morrison & Foerster LLP; Margaret A. Mahoney, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge; and Stefan F. Tucker, Venable LLP.
