AFLA Luncheon Explores Foreign Trusts

On Wednesday, December 15, the American Foreign Law Association is holding a holiday luncheon meeting including a presentation. The topic of the seminar is Foreign Trusts for U.S. Clients and U.S. Trusts for Foreign Clients - Is There Life After UBS? The event is located at the offices of Pryor Cashman LLP, 7 Times Square in New York City. It will begin at noon with a buffet and cocktails. The program will follow at 1:00 p.m.

Trusts have been used for lawful non-tax avoidance purposes by many individuals for different purposes. Among these are asset protection from divorce and creditors, tax minimization for foreign citizens with U.S. investments, and wealth transfers for foreign persons with U.S. beneficiaries. Speaker Gideon Rothschild of Moses & Singer will highlight some of the planning strategies available with such trusts.

Mr. Rothschild is a partner at Moses & Singer LLP, and he co-chairs the Trust, Estates and Wealth Preservation group.
