The ACCA Southern California chapter has scheduled a monthly multi-venue event for corporate counsel - Your Relationship with Outside Counsel: Hiring and Managing Law Firm Attorneys - for Wednesday, October 21, in five locations.
The breakfast events, which run from 7:30 am-9:15 pm, will be held in Pasadena and Irvine. The lunchtime seminars will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. in Downtown LA, Torrance, and Westlake Village.
This program will cover the basic issues concerning the retention and management of outside counsel and special issues that arise in the relationship between in-house and outside counsel. It will be presented as a hypothetical transaction and the subsequent litigation that occurs when a deal goes sour. The presenters will include both transaction and litigation counsel who will discuss, with audience participation, the following issues: how to select appropriate outside counsel; managing costs and budgeting; avoiding surprises; fixing problem relationships; pet peeves from the perspectives of outside and inside counsel; and ethical and confidentiality issues that arise in the context of employing outside attorneys.
