The annual ABA TECHSHOW®2011 has been planned, with the conference running from April 11-13 and the EXPO running from April 11 to 12. It will be held at the Hilton Chicago Hilton & Towers, 720 S. Michigan in Chicago. More than 50 sessions will be available as well as legal technology CLE, more than 100 exhibitors, and at least 1,500 fellow lawyers.
This year's keynote address will be presented by Professor Larry Lessig, director of the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics and a professor of law at Harvard Law School, on Monday, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. He will discuss Code is Law - the place of law in a digital society and how it competes with or complements code. On day one, a session for large firm and corporate counsel lawyers will run from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.and cover the following topics: Technology Adoption: Is Your Firm Ahead of the Curve?; Insourcing or Outsourcing E-Discovery; Time to Consider Project Management?; and Taking Your Practice Into the Cloud. A concurrent social networking and marketing track will cover building a website, a litigator's social media toolbox, and a basic course about social media - the most popular social media outlets, how to create a great profile, and how to incorporate social media in your overall marketing plan.
On Tuesday, e-discovery, cloud computing and the logistics of going paperless are among the tracks being offered. In the e-discovery track, project management and budgeting skills for e-discovery, meeting the challenge of litigation holds and data preservation, developments in search and review, and effective preparation for the Rule 26(f) conference will be reviewed, with Steve Bennett, Jones Day, and Catherine Sanders Reach, ABA Legal Technology Resource Center, among the speakers. On day three, Wednesday, open-source software and using it to power your practice; developments in search and review;and an introduction to cloud computing with popular cloud services for lawyers will be covered, with Dan Siegel, Integrated Technology Services, LLC, speaking. The conference ends at noon after a 60 Sites in 60 Minutes segment.
