Global law firm Proskauer marked the 10-year anniversary of its Boston office with a celebration at the Institute of Contemporary Art on Wednesday, May 28. Within two years of launching in 2004, Proskauer’s Boston office was cited as one of the city’s fastest-growing law firms by the Boston Business Journal. Today, the office offers clients market-leading capabilities in the practice areas of Intellectual Property, Labor & Employment, Litigation, Multi-Tranche Finance, Private Equity, Private Investment Funds and Pro Bono.

“Our Boston office has experienced remarkable growth and success in its first decade, serving clients across a broad range of practice areas at the very highest level,” said Proskauer Chairman Joseph M. Leccese. “Equally important, our Boston office has honored the firm’s longstanding commitment to corporate social responsibility with its robust pro bono and community service programs. The firm looks forward to continuing its growth and engagement in Boston.”

“We’ve accomplished a tremendous amount in just 10 years — several of the firm’s core practices have taken root in Boston. We are thankful to those who have made our success possible: first and foremost, our clients; our lawyers; and our colleagues throughout the firm who continually contribute behind the scenes to Proskauer’s success,” said Boston office head Joseph A. Capraro Jr., a partner in Proskauer’s Patent Law Group.

Mr. Capraro is among the founding partners of the Boston office, which initially launched with a small intellectual property group that now includes nearly 40 lawyers. The IP group has a stellar record of success in helping clients in major industries protect and exploit their IP assets, and litigating complex disputes related to patents, trade secrets, copyrights, trademarks and technology-based licenses.

Among the earliest law practices to concentrate on multi-tranche finance, Proskauer’s highly esteemed Multi-Tranche Finance Group represents investors in alternative forms of debt to support leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, refinancings, and strategic and distressed debt acquisitions. Chambers USA 2014 recognizes Proskauer as one of “the most active firms in the private debt markets” with valuable “market intelligence and sense of current market precedence” that offers “clients the benefit of its global network.”

The Boston office expanded significantly with the addition of a renowned team of private investment funds lawyers in 2005. Offering a complete suite of services to private investment funds and institutional investors globally, the group consistently ranks as a top-tier practice, including a ranking in the Dow Jones Private Equity Analyst annual survey of law firms as the most active firm as measured by the number of funds closed on behalf of sponsors.

Proskauer’s Boston office actively gives back to the community through pro bono work, with participating lawyers on all levels ranging from first-year associates to senior counsel and partners. The chair of Proskauer’s Pro Bono Initiative Committee is Litigation Department senior counsel Scott Harshbarger, who served two terms as Massachusetts attorney general. In addition to providing legal advice and critical financial support to a wide array of organizations, the office works with local groups that focus on the encouragement of entrepreneurial efforts by Boston’s youth.

Mr. Capraro added, “We look forward both to many more years of growth and continuing to enhance our successful platform in support of our clients’ business objectives.”
